It looks awesome now that I have it up. If the medallion had a “split” option, I would have bought that, but I took a chance on cutting it myself. Installing this light fixture a couple years ago was a pain, and I didnt want to have to take it down to install this.I used a box-cutter straight edge knife, and cut the medallion middle circle completely out to fit my chandelier base mount, it’s over 5 inches wide. It turned out to fit perfectly when I cut out that inner ring. Then I used the same box cutting blade to cut the medallion from middle to one end, so just 1 slit, not a full half and half. I was nervous I might rip the foam or crack it, but I was feeling brave and didnt want to deal with sealing and painting 2 cut lines if i could help it. I then gave it one coat of paint in my ceiling color, including on the interior cut-lines I made, just in case.I pre-drilled drywall screws evenly around (3 or 4), just so they were lodged in the medallion but not poking out the backside. Then I squeezed out squiggles of construction adhesive along the back. Then I needed a second person to help me twist open the cut I created, at a slight angle and feed the medallion through the chandelier pole. It worked! Then I had him press and hold it to the ceiling while I screwed in the drywall screws to the ceiling the rest of the way.I then covered the screw heads with white wood filler (hey it’s what I had) and filled in the one cut with the wood filler. The ceiling is a bit over 9 feet high and you cannot see the wood filler and cuts, so i didnt bother painting them. I love it, it’s beautiful.
